Singers 12s 6d Internal Miss Howells BD vol. 8, pp. 6-8, records two female singers named Howells active at this time. Neither of them matches up to the Miss Howells appearing in the 1805-06 Drury Lane account book at a £1 5s weekly salary: the first, "Miss Howells", flourished only 1798-1800; the second, Fanny Howells, did not perform at Drury Lane until 1816. However, BD expresses no knowledge of "Miss Howells's" post-1800 career. Moreover, a £1 5s weekly salary would be appropriate for a singer. It therefore seems fair to categorise the relevant payments as "Singers" and to suggest that the recipient may well have been Bd's 1798-1800 "Miss Howells".
