Proprietorial (Other) £666 13s 4d External Paid John Phillip Kemble Esqr Kemble was paid three instalments of £666 13s 4d, totalling £2000, between 29 October 1803 and 3 February 1804. The following season, he was paid a one-off payment of £1333 6s 8d (i.e. 2/3 of £2000) for no specified reason. These payments were in addition to his acting and management salaries, his benefit-lieu payment, and his proceeds from six private boxes. Perhaps they were dividends, but their neatness and their earliness in Kemble's proprietorial tenure suggest that they were fixed payments agreed upon in advance when Kemble bought into Covent Garden theatre.
