Actors £115 Internal Mr. Burgess for Moody's Cause Here presumed (as in BD vol. 10, p. 293) to be the money that went to Moody as a result of his successful lawsuit for salary arrears, rather than to Burgess for his legal work or expenses. However, given that two subsequent £100 payments were paid to Moody (or possibly three; another payment apparently involving Moody, difficult to interpret, was recorded on 26 November 1800), perhaps £100 was paid to him on this occasion too, and the extra £15 went to Burgess.
Actors £100 Internal (Mr. Spencer) for Do [Moody] by Do. [Moody's Cause] by Burgess This entry does not seem to have all been written at the same time or in the same hand, and, presumably as a consequence, the meaning of the dittos is unclear, and at least one of them may have been redundant. Spencer seems to have been due arrears on a 1775 rental share, and Moody was an old actor. Perhaps this was a payment to both of them, but it would have been unusual to record them together as one entry.
