But there is no such ditto in the corresponding place for Aberdeen. On the next line is written "Do" under Aberdeen's name, next to which is written "Dresser". The two lines are bracketed together to the one sum, £18. Thus it is unclear if there were two Aberdeens, one a doorkeeper and one a dresser; or if one Aberdeen served both roles; or if Aberdeen was only a dresser. BD vol. 1, p. 10 states that Mr "Aberdein" was in charge of paying other dressers in 1802, and that, while there was an "Aberden, Jr" on record, he appeared as late as 1812-13. Thus it seems most probable that there was only one Aberdeen, whose relatively high payment of £18 here was due to his status as a senior dresser, and the scribe had simply written out his payment in a confused fashion.
