Scene Painters £3 Internal Banks for Passion Week Probably Thomas Banks. BD vol. 1, pp. 256-7, states that his salary as a performer (as distinct from his work as a scene painter) gained him a £3 per week salary "through 1795-96", and it dropped to £1 in the 1796-97 season, before rising to £3 again (but primarily for his painting) after 1798. Since this payment was for Passion Week, and therefore must have been a constant salary rather than a performer's 6-day weekly rate, it appears that BD is mistaken as to when Banks moved onto his constant £3 salary as a painter.
