Messengers and Porters 16s Internal Appleby's Bill
Employees (Other) 16s 8d Internal Keys Mr. 5 "5" refers to days not on list. Perhaps Simon Keys the dancer and minor actor, but the salary given for him in BD vol. 8, p. 431 - £1 5s per week in 1796 - does not fit well with this payment. Perhaps Mr Keys the box office keeper, who BD on the same page suggests was at Covent Garden in 1791 but had moved to Drury Lane as a house servant by 1800.
Dancers 16s 8d Internal Roffi 5 Days not on List
Music Copyists 15s 4d Internal Sleyack Music Copying
Dancers 16s 8d Internal Wells Do. [not on List] 5 Do. [Days]
Actors 6s 8d Internal Mr. Banks not on List two Days Possibly W. Banks, whose salary, according to BD vol 1, p. 258, was £1 per week (or 3s 4d per day); but BD states that W. Banks's first performance came on 18 January 1796. Alternatively, it may be Thomas Banks; but BD vol. 1, pp. 256-7, states that Thomas Banks's salary as a performer (as distinct from his work as a scene painter) gained him a £3 per week salary "through 1795-96", and that it was only in the 1796-97 season that his salary dropped to £1. Hence if this payment was to Thomas, BD is mistaken, and his salary had already dropped to £1 per week by the 1795-96 season.
