Drury Lane paid at least three different Rhodeses in the 1790s, but it seems fairly likely that the recipient here was the Rhodes sometimes paid for letters and (if it was the same person) once paid for "Packthread & Porter". Although not noted in BD, this figure seems to have been a house servant named John Rhodes, often or mostly employed for messages. |
