Paid Thos. Harris Esqr. [per] Mrs. [?] Grey |
Covent Garden paid a Mrs Grey multiple significant sums of money in the late 1780s, sometimes in relation to Thomas Harris, but her identity is unclear. Perhaps this was the same person, although it is not entirely clear whether the recipient was a Mr or Mrs Grey. The theatre employed a singer named Mrs Grey at this time, but her salary was only £1 a week at most; she does not seem a natural fit with these occasional payments (see BD vol. 6, pp. 320-1). |
