Drury Lane also paid "Tring [?] & Partner Chairmen by Mr. Sheridans Order" on 23 January 1794. LS vol. 5, p. 1416 notes for the 31 December 1791 performance of Cymon that it "conclude[d] with a Grand Procession of the Hundred Knights of Chivalry, and the Representation of an Ancient Tournament", and that "the Prince of Wales' Highlander made one of the procession, and entered the lists as a champion, fighting with an enormous club; against him a small female warrior was opposed, by whom he was subdued." It states that this spectacle was "included in all subsequent performances." Perhaps Tring and his partner were also attendants of the Prince of Wales who participated in the procession and/or tournament. |
