Unknown £46 18s 1d Unknown Paid Thos: Harris Esqr: by Baldwin Covent Garden paid a "Baldwin" several times between 4 April 1786 and 6 March 1788, usually in relation to Thomas Harris. These were probably all the same person, the "John Baldwin" sometimes specified, but his identity is unclear; BD vol. 1, p. 236 speculates that it may have been for music copying, but on a tenuous basis, and apparently in awareness of only one of the relevant Covent Garden payments.
Unknown £10 Unknown Paid Ditto [Thos: Harris Esqr:] by Mrs. Grey Covent Garden paid a Mrs Grey multiple significant sums of money in the late 1780s, sometimes in relation to Thomas Harris, but her identity is unclear. The theatre employed a singer named Mrs Grey at this time, but her salary was only £1 a week at most; she does not seem a natural fit with these occasional payments (see BD vol. 6, pp. 320-1).
