Wardrobe (Other) £200 Internal Paid Mr Whitfield on Acct Seemingly a payment to Robert Whitfield for his salary as wardrobe keeper (always a fairly neat amount, being £40 per season in 1766-67 and £100 per season in 1801-02), which otherwise does not seem to have been paid since 7 June 1783. Later, on 7 December 1787, there was a £100 payment to Whitfield "on Acct. of former Seasons", strengthening the suggestion that his salary as wardrobe keeper had not been regularly paid in the 1780s.
