Paid Mr Watridge a Debt due by Mrs. Lessingham |
CG paid Joseph Wat(e)ridge several times between the 1780-67 seasons, once calling him "Milliner", once "Haberdasher". Trade directories and data on London Lives shows that he was principally regarded as a haberdasher. This payment, though, has been categorised as CG paying off a staff debt, due to the wording of the entry; perhaps, due to the close relationship between Thomas Harris and Jane Lessingham, he/CG paid off her personal debts after her death in 1783. |
