Mr. Parsons to compleat £150. |
William Parsons seems to have been paid £100 or £105 per season in lieu of benefit - BD vol. 11, p. 223, states £100, but an expense of 19 May 1778 specifies £105. So it is possible that this £45 represented his basic salary. However, a total pay of £150 for the season seems low, and a benefit forming 2/3 thereof seems unusual; so it has here been assumed that the £150 was Parsons's benefit pay, either for this season only, or for this season plus a previous season's outstanding amount. |

Mr. Chapman Gratuity |
Difficult to be sure of which Chapman this was, but there was a doorkeeper of that name recorded in the 1776-77 season and a checktaker of that name, who then became a boxkeeper, recorded in the early nineteenth century. See BD vol. 3, p. 154. |
