Draft in favour of Mr. Taylor Genl. Acct |
Ford - and somtimes Linley, Westley and a General Account - were named in relation to a number of £200 drafts recorded in the Drury Lane account books around this time, appearing as both receipts and expenses. Perhaps they formed a loan arrangement for short-term cash, but it is unclear exactly what was happening here, or who, in this instance, Taylor was. This payment relates to an earlier receipt, of 27 June 1781: "To Cash on Dr. Fords Draft in favour of Mr. Linley accepted T: W: [Thomas Westley, the treasurer?] at 2 Mos. disd. by Mr. Taylor. dated 21st. June", £200, which was followed by a £3 6s 8d payment of 15 October 1781, "Mr. Taylor's Dicot. on £200 4 Months". |
