Over the previous month, occasional notes had been written in a different ink to the main accounts, detailing amounts of money set aside for Dr Ford's appropriated fund, and keeping a running total of those amounts, separate from the main expenses running total. On 16 September, "Dr. Ford £42 No 1." On 19 September, "By Dr. Ford £42 No 2". On 12 October, "Appropriated Fund £42", which is then added to "Ditto before 84" to equal "Pd. to Dr. Ford 126 in all". Beneath this is noted, "this Acct. setled & enter'd Vide below", referring to this payment of 14 October, which effectively translates the fund's separate running total into the main account's running total. Ford's activity with the Appropriated Fund are also recorded elsewhere in the database. |
