The company list at the start of the 1760-61 account book identifies Clarke (at this salary) as "Assistant at ye Office", following pit office staff and probably therefore referring to the pit office.

Lamplighters £1 12s 3d Internal Lamps BD vol. 8, p. 408 states that the last mention of Mr Kemp, lampman, was on 28 May 1760, but he was also named thrice in the 1760-61 expenditure records for lamplighting, and the regular £1 12s 3d payments for "Lamps" in this and the following season probably went to him too.
