BD vol. 3, p. 301 lists a Mr Clarke, fl. 1760-62, "house servant", but expresses uncertainty as to his function, despite noting that he shared a benefit with five doorkeepers. The company list at the start of the 1760-61 account book identifies Clarke (at this salary) as "Assistant at ye Office", following pit office staff and probably therefore referring to the pit office.
