Unknown £24 Unknown Mr Bedwell the remainder of a Note A Thomas Bedwell, ironmonger, was recorded voting in Westminster in 1749 (see London Lives). Probably he was the Thomas Bedwell whom CG paid "a Bill" on 23 January 1747, and part of the Bedwell and Freke, braziers/ironmongers, with whom CG was certainly dealing by 1757. But there were other Bedwells, and records of unspecified Bedwells, from the 1740s onwards (including this one), and the recipient here is unclear. It is likewise unclear whether he was here being repaid a loan to the theatre, or he was being paid for his goods in the form of a promissory note, which he endorsed, then deposited with or used to pay a third party, who cashed it in with CG in instalments.
