Carpentry and Sceneshifting £50 Departmental Mr Powell. Carpenter BD vol. 12, p. 101 identifies this as H. Powel, and suggests that he disbursed this money to the scenemen (although it does not link him with the Mr Powell, carpenter, who was regularly paid in 1757-58 for the scenemen). However, a "Mr. Powell, Pavior" was paid on 12 January 1741 "in full discharge of his agreemt. for keeping in repair the pavement at Lincoln's-inn-fields Theatre"; if the two men were the same, then this payment, too, may have been part of that agreement.
Management 16s 8d Internal Mr C. Rich
Proprietorial (Other) £1 1s External Mr J. Rich
Charity 11s 9d External Mrs Redfern laid out for her & for her Coach Hire to the Hospital
Miscellaneous £28 2s 2d Departmental [nightly charge] This season's account book does not record or itemise the nightly charges, but it is evident that they were diverted from the nightly receipts. The sums are here calculated by deducting the money received into the treasury via Mr Wood from this night's performance receipts or benefit charge, as appropriate.
Unknown £1 1s Unknown Do. [Mr J. Rich] by Coxen
Loan Repayments (as Debtor) £20 External Mr Bosvil in full for a Note of £40 Interpreted here as repayment of a loan, though perhaps it was in fact more like this season's later payments to Mr Bosvil, "by a Note of hand Endors'd by him and paid to" someone else. In the 1746-47 season, "Mr. Bosvile (Mercer)" was paid numerous times, so perhaps the 1740-41 transactions were also related to fabrics.
