Trade directories list ""Lambert and Say"" as tallow chandlers too (e.g. Bailey's British Directory (1784), p. 150 (in 'London Directory'); Wakefield's Merchant and Tradesman's General Directory (1790), p. 198). However, the records for CG's first two payments to this business do not specify the type of candle, and this third payment (perhaps erroneously) specifies ""Wax Chandler""; moreover, later trade directories identify Eusebius Say as a chandler of either wax or wax and tallow candles (e.g. The General London Guide (1794), p. 113; Kent's Directory (1803), p. 176; Post-Office Annual Directory (1808), p. 251). It is therefore unclear whether Lambert & Say initially supplied CG with tallow, wax, or both types of candles."
